I Am A Princess

When I was a little girl, I used to dress up like a princess because of all the beautiful princesses I had seen on my favorite fairy tale movies like "Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid." It was because I wanted to become a princess. I didn't realize until I grew older that I already am a princess. I was born a princess, still am a princess and always will be a princess.

I learned an important lesson from a book that I have loved reading since I was little, "Daughter Of A King." The lesson is this: whether we are poor or rich, old or young, naughty or nice, smart or dumb, tall or short, ugly or beautiful, everyone is a prince or a princess. I've also learned that when we want to become princes or princesses, we must act like true princes and princesses. That means seeing others as magnificent swans instead of ugly ducklings. That also means we must be kind to others, especially those we may not get along with or not like very much.

My mom has always taught me that to become a true princess, you must be kind and caring. That is what I want to do to be a true princess, even though I will make mistakes for the rest of my life. But, it doesn't always hurt to try to do better.

"Beauty and the Beast" is one of my most favorite fairy tale movies, because in the end of the movie, after the beast transforms back into a handsome prince, Belle also transforms into a princess from a peasant girl. That is one of my favorite parts of the movie. Same for the story, "Cinderella," because she turned into a princess when she married the prince and captured his heart because of the person she is. I've also learned that I am a princess by being myself, the real me.

Though I don't live in a shiny palace with servants and a king and queen and am not wearing a beautiful gown, I can still think of myself as a princess because I have everything I needed; a house with a roof over my head, comfortable clothes and shoes to wear, food to eat, and a loving family. That's what makes me feel like a princess; the blessings that God has given me. Because of that, I will always remember that I am a Daughter of a King.
